Solstice Online Book Club

SOLSTICE

Solstice is recommended for
readers sixth grade and up.

Still have questions? Please email me through my contact page, and I'll help however I can.

Interested in more? Please contact me about both SKYPE and in-person author visits.

Thank you so much for your interest in the Solstice Online Book Club!

Why an online book club? Well, there are lots of great reasons!

* You can bring an author (namely me) to your classroom or library without actually bringing an author to your classroom or library. The online book club is a great way to connect teens with authors.

* With budget cuts and library funds dwindling, the online book club is a way to provide quality content without spending money on travel expenses and honorariums.

* As for content, the Solstice book club questions have been created by teens. These teens have read the book and come up with the questions they most wanted the answers to. And in the videos below, I answer those questions and more.

How it works:
* Assign Solstice as your book club pick.
* Encourage the kids to bring questions to the next meeting.
* Watch the book club videos during the meeting.
* If the questions aren't answered, please ask me (via Tumblr "Ask me anything" is best). I love to talk about Solstice, and I love to talk to readers!

Topics covered include:
* Greek mythology
* Global warming
* Dystopian worlds
* The Writing Process
* Charater relationships
* Influences for Solstice

To request swag for Solstice please email me and write "Solstice Swag Request" in the subject line of the email (US/Canada only please).

Thank You!

A huge special thank you to the Biddeford Book Ninjas for helping provide the questions used in the Solstice Online Book Club! I couldn't have done it without you all!

Book Club Videos

The Solstice Online Book Club consists of three videos. The videos do not need to be watched in order, but watch out for spoilers!

Video 3 contains many, many spoilers. You have been warned. :)

I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed recording them. And thank you for the interest in Solstice!

Video 1

In which I talk about real-world influences for Solstice, illegal flowers, and rivers of the Underworld...

Video 2

In which I talk about summers in Austin, immortal teenagers, and evil characters...

Video 3

In which I talk about difficulties in mythology, the council of the gods, and the inspiration for Cerberus...

If you have any questions, please contact me!
And thank you again for reading, watching, and supporting Solstice!
